Chai Nat Muni National MuseumThe Province of Chai Nat covers an area of 2,469 square kilometers and is administratively divided into 6 districts. Chai Nat is located on the east bank of Chao Phraya River and its name means a Place of Victory which originated from the fact that Chai Nat was used as a base to fight the Burmese army and each time the confrontation took place, the Burmese army was defeated.
Located in the compound of Wat Phra Borommatha Worawihan is a 2-story building constructed in Thai architecture style. This is the Chai Nat Muni National Museum, which is an archaeological museum that houses many old artifacts and relics.
The ground floor of the museum has exhibits of celadon Buddha images, tools and ornaments ranging from Dvaravati period to Rattanakosin period. Most of these artifacts were given to the museum by the Venerable Phra Chai Nat Muni Suthatto, the former ecclesiastical Provincial Governor of Chai Nat. The governor was a collector and he handed over his collection to the Fine Arts Department.
