Yasothon Buddha Footprint Rich in history and culture, Yasothon has many beautiful temples and building. However, one of the most revered temples of the province is Wat Phra Buddha Bat Yasothon, situated in Ban Nong Yang. This temple is popular for Buddha Footprint enshrined there.The Yasothon Buddha Footprint is located on a white sand dune.
Quite close to the Yasothon Buddha Footprint is an image of Lord Buddha in a meditation posture. The image has a serpent spreading its hood over meditating Lord Buddha as if to give protection to Him. The image is made from laterite and it is around two feet wide. In addition there is an inscription on a laterite tablet, which is one meter high and 50 centimeters wide. According to the inscription, the Buddha Footprint, the Buddha image and the tablet were brought in 835 from Ayutthaya by two monks, Phra Maha Uta Panya and Phra Sitthi Viharik. In addition, the inscription also has verses praising and honoring the footprint. The inscription, though faded with age, is still legible.
